William Chrisant’s appreciation of the book as an artifact developed in graduate school when he became acquainted with the booksellers Otto Harrssowitz (Wiesbaden, Germany) and B. H. Blackwell (Oxford, England) in purchasing texts for his studies. By the time he completed his degree, he had acquired enough books to open a small book shop in an antique store in his home town of Akron, Ohio, which he quickly outgrew. He then rented space in an old schoolhouse, and enjoyed enough success to buy a space in Cleveland’s antique district, and eventually open a second location in Shaker Square. In 2009, William moved to his present location in Florida. William has been a member of various organizations including the Northern Ohio Bibliophilic Society and the Virginia Antiquarian Booksellers Association. He is presently a member of the HistoryMiami Museum, the Florida Bibliophile Society, the Ephemera Society of America, the Antiquarian Booksellers’ of America, and the International League of Booksellers, and has served as vice-president of the Florida Antiquarian Booksellers Association.
